2013 Kestrel Legend SL Road Bike. The 2013 edition of the Kestrel Legend SL Road Bike is a premier, lightweight racing machine that provides best in class performance. At a mere 780 grams, the Legend frameset is built to fly out on the road and utilizes Kestrel's next generation Kestrel EMS Pro fork and newly designed H stays to help provide a stable ride that will take the peloton by storm. And for smooth shifting performance, its Shimano Ultegra Di2 electronic 2x10 speed drivetrain sets the standard. Every Kestrel design is proprietary and engineered from scratch in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The result is a Kestrel carbon frame that is executed with a high degree of engineering mastery. The Legend SL is made from a special 800k high modulus carbon fiber. While the Kestrel 700k material is incredibly stiff, the 800k carbon is 30% more stiff, and allows Kestrel to use 20% less material in the production of the frame. The BB30 press fit bottom bracket and tapered head tube further optimize the amount of frame stiffness. The Kestrel Legend SL features an Oval Concepts 900 Carbon crankset with 5339T chainrings plus the renowned Shimano Ultegra Di2 electronic 2x10 speed drivetrain. Changing gears has never been so easy, effortless, and fast than with the Ultegra Di2 electronic set up. Ultegra Di2 features an automatic trimming front derailleur, so you never have to hear the sound of chain rub again. The shifters act with digital push button shifting and are ergonomically shaped for optimal comfort and control. The rear derailleur is immune to rough circumstances and protected from impact damage by its reinforced inner cage. The battery, at the heart of the drivetrain and tucked away on the top of the down tube near the bottom bracket, uses lithium ion technology and guarantees a range of 1,250 miles, or almost half the length of the Tour de France, before it needs to be recharged, which takes just 90 minutes. The Oval Concepts 900 Carbon crankset is remarkable stiff and features traditional 5339T chainrings to complement the Shimano 105 11 25T cassette. The Oval Concepts 535 alloy wheels have a semi wind cheating 35mm rim profile without being a burden in crosswinds. These wheels, outfitted with Hutchinson Atom Comp tires for low rolling resistance, are perfect all arounders suitable for training and competition. Additional Oval Concepts components include the 910 Ergonomic Pro Carbon handlebars, a 905 Carbon Wrap seatpost, plus 713 3D forged alloy stem to complete this high performance build.
