Fuji SL 1.1 Road Bike 2017. If you are familiar with Fuji bikes, then you know that the SL series used to be their top of the line road bikes. Well, the mold has been shattered and the 2017 lineup of SL1's returns these bike to greatness. And, no other bike in the whole spectrum of Fuji bikes, is quite like the Fuji SL 1.1 road bike. Every attempt was made to drop grams and subsequently, opponents. The Fuji SL 1.1 is an ultralight superbike with improved comfort and stiffness to create the ultimate road machine. The SL 1.1 may look outwardly similar to the Grand Tour winning Altamira, but under the hood everything has been updated, revised, and improved. Fuji's High Compaction Molding System has been honed and perfected over the years to create the stiffest possible frame with the least amount of material. By ensuring that the carbon sheets are free of wrinkles, and the resin has been evenly applied, the engineers can make the bike stiffer and lighter, with less variation in the carbon. The C15 high modulus carbon construction is about as stiff as you would ever want a bike to be, and, when coupled with a PF30 bottom bracket and tapered headtube, will transfer just about every watt in your pedal stroke into forward motion. In the rear, Fuji kept the pencil thin seatstays we all loved on the Altamira, adding some compliance to the frame for a smoother ride, but switched from a 31.6mm seatpost to a 27.2mm, adding in a little more forgiveness for bad roads and shedding some weight. Plus, the SL clears a 28mm tire depending on the brand, so you can throw on some cushier rubber for the ultimate in smooth sailing comfort. The SL 1.1 is equipped with the highly refined and ultra powerful SRAM Red eTap 11 speed drivetrain. A mid compact 5236 crankset and SRAM Red 11 28 cassette provides the perfect range to mash out a sprint, grind out a climb, or ride tempo. Oval Concepts 935 carbon wheels with 320 TPI Vittoria Open Corsa tires scorch the pavement and a set of SRAM Red brakes keep you in control of every hairpin turn.
