Giordana's press materials call out the men's FormaRed Carbon Jersey with the usual array of marketing hyperbole: elite, performance, innovative, etc. If you're like us, you typically ignore that kind of language and focus on two things in order to determine a jersey's merits fit and fabric and since the FormaRed Carbon Jersey sits like it's painted on but feels so unrestrictive that it virtually disappears once you're in the saddle, we'd say that it actually lives up to the hyperbole. The jersey owes its hyperbole justifying fit primarily to two fabrics, Asteria and Host Carbon. Asteria constitutes most of the jersey, wrapping the torso from the front panel to the center back, where it meets a supportive spine of Host Carbon. The Asteria portions are compressive, moisture managing, and lightweight, so the jersey's body breathes well while conferring a bit of fatigue resistance by compressing your muscles to reduce the negative effects of vibration. It's also very stretchy, so the Host Carbon spine plays host to the structural demands of wearing the jersey, supporting the compressive fit and three rear pockets. The sleeves are laser cut to lie flat, and the jersey is finished with reflective details and a fourth, zippered pocket for keys or cash.
