Giro Silo Bicycle Helmet. Giro's Silo Bicycle Helmet has been designed with materials with an eye toward minimizing environmental impact. The Silo has a bio foam liner made of Expanded Polylactic Acid E PLA, a material which is made from plant biomass. This material reduces the environmental burden, yet it performs in a manner similar to conventional EPS foam when it comes to managing energy imparted by an impact. When the Bicycle Helmet has come to the end of its usefulness or is damaged, the E PLA bio foam liner and straps can be composted and the Bicycle Helmet's other components can be recycled to help reduce environmental impact.
