When it's below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and raining in early winter, a heavy weight, weather resistant jacket is the only way to roll. But if it's still fall or already spring, then too much insulation in a rain jacket will defeat the purpose of keeping you dry because, you'll just get soaked in sweat. Hincapie Sportswear designed the Pacific Rain Shell Vest for the latter occasions, when you want to stay dry but the temperatures aren't low enough to warrant long sleeves, let alone full cold weather gear. Hincapie's previous rain vests have used E5 2 layer barrier material, but the Pacific Rain Shell Vest upgrades to CrystalDry material. Like E5 2 layer, CrystalDry is waterproof, lightweight, and flexible. Unlike the E5 2 layer, CrystalDry is very breathable because it's a micro pierced membrane. This feature alone is worth the upgrade, since a suffocating PVC esque rain vest can feel like wearing, well, a suffocating PVC rain vest, but CrystalDry also has an element of wind resistance added in for good measure. A Quantum Mesh panel at the collar further increases breathability where you'll appreciate it the most. The full length front zipper, so often the culprit in breaches of rain security, is reinforced with an anti weather placket underneath. The zipper is a two way model, so you can vent from below so the jacket flaps less in the wind. To keep the storm out, the waist is gathered with a thin elastic band. The jacket has been given a reflective treatment to help keep you visible in low light conditions, and the translucence of CrystalDry means that colors and numbers underneath it will still be visible. The Hincapie Sportswear Pacific Rain Shell Vest is available in six sizes ranging from X Small to XX Large in the colors Black and Translucent.
