Down has a soft, comfortable feel and continues to be the insulation with the best warmth to weight ratio. The feathers and fibers are renowned for containing body heat and are very easily compressed, so the Cosmic Down 40 Degree bag takes up less space in your backpack. The one downfall to this insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet.A draft tube behind the Cosmic Down 40 Degree bag's 58, two way locking zipper, an insulated top draft collar and a contoured hood with an insulated hood baffle further enhance the bag's thermal efficiency. The hood utilizes Kelty's patented FatMan and Ribbon drawcords, allowing you to adjust the top or lower sections of the hood by feel even when it's dark outside.
