The Kinetic Magnetic series of trainers are among the most popular models for a few simple reasons: they're durable, simple to use, and reasonably priced. The latest generation, the Kinetic Magnetic 3. 0 Trainer, makes a few incremental improvements to continue its reign. New this year is the trainer's nine position thumb lever which allows you to adjust the trainer's resistance. The Mag trainer's progressive resistance is linear and reaches up to 850 watts at a simulated 40 mph. Overall, the resistant increments are calibrated to offer greater resistance in the middle of the range from 1 32 virtual mph, compared to most fluid trainers, making the Mag 3. 0 great for lower geared machines like mountain bikes, 'cross, or gravel rigs. The resistance mechanism is also highly efficient at dissipating heat, making it more consistent than many competitors, and it's also extremely quiet, so it's easy for you to live with. It also makes your obsessive training easier to live with for anyone who shares your domestic space. Despite those changes, many things are still the same, and we think that's just fine. The stable aluminum chassis still feels like it would survive being thrown off a building though we should note that this may not fall within Kinetic's unconditional lifetime warranty. As always, the trainer comes out of the box fully assembled, and it folds flat for easy storage. The trainer includes a handlebar mounted, cable actuating remote for the resistance mechanism. It accommodates 22 29 inch 700c wheels, and the box includes the necessary cone cups and Kinetic skewer for mounting your bike in the chassis.
