When Lamson first introduced its Litespeed reel back in 1998, it was the lightest fly reel on the market and quickly changed the way that the industry designs and builds fly reels. Staying true to its history of innovation, Lamson's Litespeed Micra 5 Reel solidifies its place as the lightest fly reel on the river and boasts improved retrieval rates, a narrower spool, and a stiffer frame that translates to improved performance when you're on the water.Being the fifth generation of the iconic Litespeed, the Micra 5 has big shoes to fill. As you might expect from a product as proven as the Litespeed, the design of the Micra 5 isn't a complete overhaul, but more of a more refined version of its predecessors. In order to enhance the performance of the original Litespeed, Lamson gave the Micra 5 a narrower spool that reduces the overall weight of the reel and a narrower drag system that also saves weight. The overall diameter of the reel has been increased to give the reel's retrieval rates a boost, which gives you the advantage when battling fish that want to run up and down river on you. In order to increase the life of the reel, Lamson finished the Micra 5 with a Micralox finish, which is the most corrosion resistant finish Lamson has developed to date.
