The D handle version of the shovel comes in at 1lb, 10oz the T handle is 1lb, 8oz, allowing you to pack it while still get great digging power out of the telescoping handle. The High sides combine with a serrated edge to drive in and scoop more, whether you're constructing or on a rescue mission.
