The Crossmax Roam XL 29 inch Tire is what happens when one of the foremost wheel makers in the world decides to get into the tire game. Mavic recognized an opportunity to improve upon what's out there in the all mountain tire game, and they've offered up a fine entry of their own. When compared with the front specific Charge tire, the rear specific Roam is a touch less tacky but more durable and with a higher rolling efficiency. It's a dual compound tire with a durometer rating of 50a on the shoulders to enhance grip in corners and a strip of 60a in the center for low rolling resistance. The Roam's blend of traction, rolling resistance, and tread longevity recommends it for aggressive, fast riding that holds corners and lays down power. Like its front brother, the Roam also incorporates Guard 2, which uses a dual ply, 66 TPI casing to help prevent flats, even at the low pressures you'll be able to run because of the UST Tubeless Ready design. Rolling tubeless means you can ditch the heavy tubes and rock a lower PSI, which makes for better handling and grip at lower rotational weight. The tire's tread graduates from short, ramped studs in the middle, for aggressive power transfer and longevity, to pronounced knobs on the shoulders in the softer compound for confident, don't have to slow down cornering. The 2. 2in casing further complements the tire's aggressive disposition.
