Mavic embraces the all road trend with its Ksyrium Elite Allroad Disc Clincher Wheelset, building on the Ksyrium's legendary ride with a beefier 19mm internal rim width that better pairs with the wider tires needed to venture beyond the pavement. Trading out the more expensive Ksyrium Pro Allroad's Zicral spokes for ever so slightly heavier steel spokes, the Ksyrium Elite Allroad lands at more palatable pricepoint that'll have you packing your weekends with adventures onto roads less traveled. To construct the rims, Mavic uses its Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions ISM 4D, which involves machining non essential material from the rim to reduce weight, but keeping it around the alloy spokes to give the rims the strength and stiffness you'd expect from anything in the Ksyrium line. This process also lowers the rotating mass of the wheel for better responsiveness and acceleration than non milled rims making sure these wheels stay snappy in power sucking loose gravel or on poorly maintained side roads. The rim width wasn't the only part of the Allroad Disc that Mavic decided needed an update the brand also reworked its hub design, introducing the Instant Drive 360 freewheel system. The system replaces the formerly used pawls with two interlocking, ratcheting rings that Mavic claims engage every nine degrees. In addition to faster engagement, the hubs are easier to maintain and protect, especially after being treated with a new sealant to keep out moisture and debris. The Ksyrium Elite Allroad Disc wheelset is available with a 12 x 100mm and 12 x 142mm thru axle pairing, with a ShimanoSRAM freehub, and your choice of 6 bolt or centerlock rotor attachment. It also comes outfitted with Mavic's Yksion Elite Allroad 30mm tubeless tires, though you can choose to run them as standard clinchers if you prefer. While they aren't bombproof, the Yksions are quick on pavement and consistently stable in off road conditions without being weighed down by aggressive knobs.
