A day in the mountains wouldn't be complete without a little type II fun on some high, exposed ridge, sketchy loose rock, and infuriatingly thick brush. And while most of your climbing partners might start to whine, the Montane Medusa 32 Backpack is pretty much game for anything due to its versatile design, durable fabrics, and simple functionality that make the pack easy to use in the mountains.Montane prioritized comfort when it designed the Medusa. Light and breathable Contact mesh is located along the shoulders, hips, and back to wick sweat and allow rainwater to pass through the pack without being absorbed and adding needless weight to your pack. The lightweight mesh has also been engineered to reduce wear and abrasion to waterproof shells. The back panel is molded for a more comfortable feel and is fitted with air channels to increase breathability between your back and the pack. In terms of design, the Medusa is fairly basic with a large top loading design, cavernous main compartment, and adjustable top lid that can be cinched down to keep the pack compact and tight when packing light. Throw in a hydration sleeve, stretch side pockets, and the Dual Tool gear straps that will carry either ice axes or trekking poles, and you have a pack that's ideal for light and fast alpine climbs, afternoons at the crag, peak bagging missions, and mellow day hikes.
