Tired of feeling like you're trapped in a windowless basement hotel room when you're sleeping in the tent' The Mountain Hardwear Optic 2. 5 2 Person 3 Season Tent is more beach cabana than stuffy cave, with full mesh walls and a fly that rolls back to give you total ventilation and a 180 degree view. As the name suggests, it's designed to sleep 2. 5 people, meaning it can hold all the kids in one of those perfectly typical suburban families the census tells us about, or two adults and a dog or child. You could probably even make it work for three grown ups, if you really liked each other and wanted to save weight. There's tons of headroom, toofour whole feet. To correspond with the mega opening of the fly, the Optic has two adjacent doors with matching vestibules to make getting in, out, and keeping gear dry no big deal. It's easy to pitch, too, with lightweight DAC Pressfit aluminum poles and color coded tabs on the fly and body so there's no confusion. Just because it's mesh doesn't mean it'll get soggy if the clouds open up, eitherthe fly's made of a tightly woven polyester taffeta that's treated with polyurethane, and the floor's constructed of rugged nylon, with a PU layer that's even more burly than what's on the fly. The Optic packs up light, too, with a superlight weight of under six pounds, but still has plenty of gear pockets and an optional gear loft to hold all your stuff it holds things well, too.
