The Haute Route is quite possibly the most popular European ski tour, and while the Ortovox Haute Route 32 Backpack isn't large enough for a weeklong tour, it will certainly help you train by carrying all the gear you need for full days in the backcountry. Like all backcountry backpacks, the Haute Route features a separate compartment specifically designed for avalanche safety gear like probes and shovels. Unlike most backpacks, the Haute has an O Flex back panel that moves with you as you skin, boot pack, and drop down wicked chutes. The Haute Route carries ice axes, snowshoes, ski poles, snowboards, and skis diagonally or at an A frame. Front and rear access points to the main compartment allow for easy access to gear with skis strapped to the pack. The helmet net is stowable when you're skiing down, and the hip pocket stores small essentials like compasses or energy gels. Ortovox made the Haute hydration compatible, with a sleeve for the reservoir and a port for the reservoir's tube.
