For 2017, Pinarello joins the all road endurance party with its Gan GR S Disc Ultegra Complete Road Bike. With disc specific construction, stiff thru axles, and a proprietary suspension system, the Gan GR S brings a rare mix of exceptional comfort, classic Pinarello aesthetics, and efficient speed to your next off pavement adventure. Built up with Shimano's smooth shifting Ultegra drivetrain and hydraulic brakes and rolling on Fulcrum Racing wheels wrapped in Vittoria's trusty Adventure tires, this bike is ready for almost anything. The Gan Disc features similar eye catching styling as the top tier Dogma KS 8, with its signature curves and unique elastomer suspension system. This suspension, dubbed the Dogma Suspension System 1. 0, sits at the seatstay junction to provide up to 10mm of plush cushion to smooth out bumpy roads and cobbles without sapping away power. Pinarello is understandably secretive about the final composition of the elastomer, but it claims that this system effectively dampens vibrations without experiencing excessive movement when riders dump watts into the pedals. Slightly flattened chainstays and seatstays provide additional compliance over the bumps while maintaining lateral stiffness. The most notable difference between the Gan GR S frame and its high end cousin is the type of carbon used to make them. While the Dogma KS 8 boasts the top end of the top tier Toray T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology, the Gan GR S consists of slightly more compliant T900 carbon that sacrifices a tiny bit of weight and stiffness but drops the overall cost significantly. While this carbon is slightly less rigid than the T1100 1K, it remains a high strength, race worthy layup designed to handle hard miles over varied terrain. The Gan GR S isn't called out as specifically aerodynamic, but it inherits Pinarello's signature oval front and flattened back tube shaping throughout the frame and fork, creating an aerodynamic profile that slices cleanly ...
