In 2006, SIDI introduced the Heel Security System, first in a prototype Genius 6.6 ridden to victory in the Giro d'Italia and then as a technical feature on four of SIDI's top production shoes. This elegantly simple solution addressed a critical aspect of performance fit, virtually eliminating power robbing heel lift. The Adjustable HSS reinforces the top of the heel cup, and adjusts to securely close the back of the shoe around the rider's heel, just above the calcaneus heel bone. The Adjustable HSS provides 6 mm of lateral adjustment on either side of the heel, improving power transfer and comfort by eliminating heel lift. Turning the HSS adjustment screws counterclockwise tightens the heel retention device a clockwise turn of the screw opens up the heel area. Each side of the heel can be adjusted independently for an absolutely perfect fit. Like most SIDI small parts, the Adjustable HSS is replaceable, and also available as an aftermarket upgrade for some 2007 thru 2009 SIDI models. Also retrofits to models with the non adjustable Heel Security System
