Stages Cycling Carbon Single Leg Power Meter Road Crank Arm GXPDual leg power meters are always going to be the gold standard of measurement, but not all of us have four figures of cash burning a hole in our pockets to drop on a single piece of equipment. For those of us not conducting lab research, single leg power is the ticket to affordable data to get the most out of our training and Stages Cycling is leading the way. Its Carbon Single Leg Power Meter GXP Road Crank Arm is made in house and extensively tested for accuracy to provide a cost effective option for adding power to your existing SRAM GXP carbon crankset. While this may not be exactly the same crank as your current SRAM one, we've spent some time with it and would be hard pressed to see the differences outside of the Stages branding. The one obvious difference is the most important though this crank has a power meter pod affixed to its inner face, adding the ability to gather pinpoint power data to better measure your ride. It utilizes a blend of strain gauges and an accelerometer to gather position and force data 64 times per second and deliver power readings with a claimed 2% accuracy that's right in line with what we'd expect from any quality power meter. For the gram conscious cyclists out there, the Stages power meter adds a miniscule 20 grams to the crank arm, which is a tiny concession when gaining the massive data tracking and training specificity having a power meter affords. To put it in perspective, that's less than an extra gel in your pocket, and closer to the weight of the six safety pins you use to pin on your race number every weekend.
