Built for professional guides and backcountry adventurers, this helmet is based on the lightweight Igniter helmet, but it has added features for mountaineering specific function. Similar to the Igniter, the Igniter Alpiniste has the added benefit of CDIP Composite Drop Impact Shell technology, which protects against falling rocks and ice so you stay safer on the way up as well as the way down. In addition to this extra protection, it also has a headlamp mount to help you see on pre dawn ascents and after dusk treks back to the car. A Superlight ABS thermoplastic shell, EPS impact foam, and Sweet Protection's force dispersing Impact Shields offer excellent protection against intense impacts while helping the helmet maintain a low profile fit. None of that would be any good without the OcciGrip fit adjustment system that keeps the Igniter glued to your noggin, though, or the removable fit pads that you can slip in and out to cushion that weird shaped part of your head. The Igniter's not just comfy, but cool, with front vents that slide quickly open and closed and a series of passive vents that regulate temperature without allowing weather in. Sweet Protection topped this lid off with a moisture wicking Coolmax liner, and gave it removable earpads so you can leave them in the car on sunny spring days.
