Flying under the radar as the less flashy cousins of parent company SRAM's top tier crankset offerings, TruVativ cranksets have built quite the fan base of riders and racers looking for high quality componentry at a price that won't break the bank. For 2017, the TruVativ Descendant Carbon BB30 Direct Mount Crankset borrows SRAM's lauded X SYNC tooth design and gets a bit of a facelift to bring you lightweight power transfer and confident chain retention.Carbon fiber arms interface with aluminum direct mount chainrings for a resulting lightweight crank arm that doesn't require a finessing of parts in order to make an optimal single ring setup. The X SYNC chainring is designed for maximum chain control, with each tooth CNC machined to support the chain's inner and outer links. This machining process provides a variable thickness from tooth to tooth, so the chain and chainring essentially lock together as you pedal. However, the locking of the two doesn't inhibit pedal efficiency, and it eliminates the commonplace ailments associated with running a single ring up front. The direct mount chainrings also afford the option of quickly subbing different sizes of rings for different shapes of terrain, giving the true all mountain racer a bit of race day flexibility to adapt to a given course.
