Cavalo Corsa Ultegra Road Bike. Carbon fiber is all the rage these days for thoroughbred road machines, but how quickly one forgets the magic that is aluminum. Enter the Cavalo Corsa Ultegra Road Bike, complete with absolutely superb Shimano Ultegra 6800 11 speed components plus Mavic wheels and tires. All in all it's a no nonsense aluminum steed that's good to go out of the box for racing, fondos, spirited group rides, or just fast riding whenever you feel so inclined. A well crafted aluminum frame is nearly as light, plenty stiff, built to last, and puts a much smaller dent on your bank account. The Cavalo Corsa road bike sports a custom butted aluminum frame with sculpted tubes and a tapered 1 to 1 headtube that rides and performs like your very own pocket rocket. There's a carbon fork with the corresponding tapered aluminum steerer tube that inspires confidence courtesy of its rock solid and utterly predictable handling. Gram for gram, dollar for dollar, you'd be hard pressed to find a finer choice than Shimano Ultegra 6800 11 speed and we've spec'd them where it counts: shiftbrake levers, crankset, front derailleur, and rear derailleur. You'll be blown away by how well this stuff works as so much functionality, precision, and reliability has trickled down from big brother Dura Ace that Ultegra is a tour de force in its own right. The shifting is just perfect while the standard sized 5339T crankset coupled with an 11 28T Shimano 105 cassette provides a wide range of gears that still have minimal jumps from gear to gear. The crankset also features Shimano's new four arm construction and the beauty of this design is that the bolt circle is the same for standard sized and compact chainrings. If you ever want to make the move to compact it's only a matter of swapping out the chainrings no need to acquire a completely different crankset. French manufacturer Mavic is synonymous with high performance wheels and their Aksium S wheelset is a stellar all around performer. Their 24mm deep aluminum rims strike a balance between aerodynamics and handling while stainless steel bladed spokes, 20 front and rear, will slice through the wind with aplomb. They're strong enough to ride everyday yet light enough to inject some zip into your rides on command. Paired with these wheels are Mavic's Aksion tires which sport a supple casing for superb ride quality plus a tread compound with plenty of grip so you can carve your way through corners as if on rails.
