Designed under the guiding notion that extra weight is the difference between standing atop the podium and being left in the dust, the 2017 Fox 32 Float SC 29 100 3Pos Adj FIT4 Fork's innovative design shaves approximately 255g or 15 percent from a similarly spec'd 32 FLOAT Fork. Coined as Step Cast SC by FOX due to its stepped lower legs, the new SC Chassis is 10mm narrower than the previous iteration for a ridiculously light fork that maximizes efficiency in cross country racing scenarios. Its smooth and sensitive ride quality remains unchanged from the previous version thanks to 32mm stanchions and a lighter version of the Fit 4 damper giving riders 3 position adjust Open, Medium, and Firm and 22 clicks of low speed compression damping in Open mode. The stepped lower legs provide clearance for the disc brake mount, tucking it where the lower fork previously resided. Not only does this stepped lower provide ample clearance for wheel and brake hardware, but it also significantly reduces weight with a hollow lower section that's the result of shortening the upper tube length and raising the magnesium lower assembly. And although the new Step Cast Chassis is 10mm narrower than the previous version, it still accommodates 2. 3in tires for plenty of traction and bump compliance on technical courses where wider rubber is warranted. The Float Air spring remains unchanged, and that's a good thing if you're seeking smooth travel and tunable support with the addition of air volume spacers. Its self equalizing negative air spring provides a plush, linear feel in the stock configuration of 2 air volume spacers. Adding more it handles up to 4 increases the fork's progressiveness and reluctance to bottom out on bigger drops and larger trail obstacles. Rounding things out, FOX employs its 15 x 100mm Kabolt thru axle for increased stiffness and slight weight savings over a comparable quick release.
