Gore Bike Wear Power Trail Lady Gore Windstopper Jacket Women'sWhile we typically eschew wet days on the trail, the rise of bikepacking, 3in tires, and fat bikes have given us more and more reason to brave the wet, cold seasons on our off road machines. The Gore Bike Wear Power Trail Lady Gore Windstopper Jacket is a must for the cyclist whose girthy tires mean that sloppy trails and snow fields are no longer the impediment they once were. The jacket is equipped with Gore Windstopper with Insulation Protection, a classic Gore membrane that's further reinforced with an incorporated thermal layer of PrimaLoft insulation. It still benefits from the membrane's windproof breathability and DWR treatment, but while it's keeping the wind chill and water out it also insulates your microclimate. You can always run a separate thermal base layer beneath a Windstopper shell, but by incorporating the insulation into the Windstopper construction, Gore is able to extend the elemental resistance to more fully protect the thermal layer. This helps guarantee the thermal layer doesn't get wet, which would in turn compromise its insulating abilities. In addition to that protected insulation, the jacket is finished with a host of details that recommend it for the abuse of a cold, wet adventure in the dirt. These include an extended collar and elastic hem and cuffs, which conspire to maintain coverage at the top and bottom, and a total of three zippered pockets for securely stowing small ride essentials, keys, and IDs. The full length zipper is backed with a draft flap, but the seams aren't taped. That means this isn't a totally waterproof jacket, but it's still equal to moderate precipitation and kicked up moisture from the trail.
