With a wide, grippy tread pattern and fast rolling dual compound rubber construction, Maxxis' 27. 5 Plus Chronicle Tire makes an impressive introduction to the plus tire world. The plush 27. 5 standard is making itself known all over the trails, and it looks like it's here to stay for the time being. Maxxis shapes the square, squat knobs lowest at the center and steadily higher towards the shoulders to provide dependable grip on everything from off camber corners covered in loose dirt and gravel to snowy singletrack, but it does so without sacrificing the tire's ability to take off on smooth straightaways. It's worth noting that the Chronicle has gained considerable attention in the bikepacking world for its ability to adapt to myriad trail conditions that riders may experience in any given day, and though Maxxis calls it out for being best suited to looser stuff, the Chronicle also rolls consistently well beyond those conditions.
