We'll admit that big travel rigs are a blast if you're in the hunt for shuttle runs and gnarly drops, but when it comes to lightweight cross country speed and lightning fast handling, you just can't get better than Pivot's 2017 Mach 4 Carbon XX1 Eagle Complete Mountain Bike. We've been fortunate to spent some time on the Mach 4 Carbon on a variety of trail systems, and every ride has left even the tiniest roadies among us grinning from ear to ear and looking towards the next ride. In short, this bike is just flat out fun. The podium hungry Mach 4 Carbon is, simply put, the lightest full suspension bike Pivot has ever made 5. 1lbs min. But if you've ridden one of Pivot's recent carbon offerings, you know the company's standpoint on carbon design stiffness comes first. Even Pivot's XC bikes track over rough terrain with unwavering accuracy. Paired with stiff carbon rims, the Mach 4 Carbon gives you ample control to ride hard corners and off camber at the edge of sanity.Suspension duties for the Mach 4 Carbon are handled by the proven DW link design, which yields 115mm of smooth travel while counteracting speed robbing pedaling forces. This translates to race worthy acceleration and consistent contact with the trail so you can carve corners and rocket up to speed in a flash. Pivot worked closely with FOX on the shock tune, allowing it to work in perfect harmony with the suspension to provide travel that's responsive, predictable, and uses every available millimeter. On the trail, this translates to a ride feel that mimics a much bigger travel bike on the descents while maintaining that snappy XC speed when the route kicks up.
