It sits between the cleats and carbon racing soles to minimize the damage to the carbon's finish and keep the cleat stationary while you tighten the bolts. Each kit includes two shims that are only compatible with Speedplay's Walkable Cleats. Please note that neither the mounting hardware nor the cleats themselves are included.
