NASA reported yesterday that Tim Kopra, one of the astronauts for the Feb. 24 launch of the shuttle Discovery, was injured in a bike accident. It is one of the last planned shuttle flights. His NASA bio says he enjoys running and biking.
Although they say he will be OK, they said he may not be able to perform his duty on the shuttle which includes spacewalking. Citing medical privacy, NASA declined to give any details but CBS says multiple sources say Kopra may have broken his hip. I wish him a speedy recovery.

This unfortunate accident reminded me of a friend who about 20 years ago played some basketball very closely to an important violin recital. http://www.spacepirations.com/2011/01/violinist-and-basketball-astronaut-and.html
