The U.S. Forest Service has placed fire and smoking restrictions on public lands in the Pike and San Isabel National Forests in the following counties: Clear Creek, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, Park, Teller, Chaffee, Fremont, Custer, Pueblo, Huerfano and Las Animas.
The restrictions prohibit building, maintaining, attending or using fires, campfires of stove fires. Campfires are allowed in Forest Service-developed campgrounds and picnic grounds, in the provided fire grates and grills, and gas-fueled stoves, lanterns and heating devices are still allowed.
