We're guessing you're well aware of the 36 Float's impressive stiffness, which means you'll have no problem sending the biggest hits and crushing over formidable rock gardens. However, you probably didn't realize the suspension gurus at FOX upgraded the 36 Float 27. 5 170 HSCLSC FIT Boost Fork with EVOL technology for 2018. This technology is integrated into the Float air spring, increasing negative air spring volume for a supple feel off the top. Ultimately, this increase in sensitivity makes the 2018 version of the 36 Float track incredibly well over bumpy roots and rocks, especially when you're muscling up a long climb for the blistering descent that follows. 36 millimeter stanchions are incredibly stiff, working hard to deflect torsional forces from bucking you silly when you're rallying across boulder sections, taking bonus side hits along the trail, and dropping into precipitously steep descents. These stanchions benefit from FOX's Kashima coating, which reduces friction for a smoother, more sensitive to feel to trail imperfections and small bumps. Not only does the Kashima coating improve overall sensitivity, but it's also much tougher than the black anodized stanchions on FOX's cheaper forks. This particular version of the 36 Float gives discerning riders greater adjustability with its FIT damper providing independent control over high and low speed compression. This option is welcome if you're the type of rider dialing in every last detail of your fork's operation, especially if you find stock settings i. e. Open, Medium, Firm to be insufficient for your riding style.
