Shimano Tiagra 4700 Crankset 5034. Shimano Tiagra has long been a stalwart of the Shimano line. Functional, dependable, and incredibly durable, it was a groupset that cared more about getting the job done that about looks and having the latest tech. Well...that's all gone and changed. At least the looks and latest tech parts. Tiagra stays at 10 speed, but Shimano has completely redesigned the 4700 Tiagra groupset to give you the looks and technology found in the company's 11 speed groupsets, while maintaining the same attention to value, intuitive functionality, dependability and durability. And there are few places you're more likely to notice that than in the redesigned crank. Shimano ditches the old non series look of the previous crank for the new 4 arm design shared by Dura Ace, Ultegra and 105. The new design is not only stiffer and lighter, but also provides much better shifting performance than previously, thanks to a redesigned set of ramps and pins to shuttle the chain from the big ring to the small ring more precisely and with less effort. The 4 arm design also lets you be more selective with you gearing choices, letting you run everything from 4634 cyclocross gearing to 5339 race gearing on the same crankset. The crankset comes with 5034 compact chainrings that provide plenty of oomph in the big ring, while also makes hills more manageable.
